LEGAL BATS...
6/18/2012

Gentlemen, as it seems to come up every year There may be some bats that are being used that are not approved.

The basic guideline for usage in our league is that the bats must be approved by ASA and other Associations that rate the bats. There are five organizations that approve bats, not because a commissioner looks at a bat and says it is approved.

I suggest that each manager send out this e-mail to their players, and have each player Google their bat, and bring the print out to you, the manager that shows that the bat has been approved.

I am enclosing a sample of what you get when you look up a new DeMarini Bat.It specifically says that the bat is approved by the five groups.

2012 DeMarini White Steel Softball Bat

The new 2012 White Steel from DeMarini has an all composite handle made from legendary DeMarini C6 composite, making the White Steel more flexible in the middle of the bat. Add to that the exclusive DeMarini Steel 01 Singlewall Barrel and you get the best single wall softball bat performance. The DeMarini White Steel barrel is the perfect combination of strength and weight in a softball bat, making the White Steel one of DeMarini's most popular softball bats of all time. The N2M End Cap is tuned to absorb unwanted stinging and vibration while maintaining the maximum amount of power to the barrel of the bat. The 2012 White Steel comes with DeMarini's Positack 2 Grip, is 2 1/4" in diameter and meets 1.20 BPF bat standards. Approved for play in the following softball associations: ASA, USSSA, ISA, ISF and NSA. The DeMarini White Steel carries a full 12 month warranty agains defects.

Each individual player should show you the managers that the bat is approved. We as Commissioners cannot be expected to be a bat expert.

The balls come quick enough off an approved bat as they do.

Last week we played Adelman, and I was pitching. In several cases I was advised by their team that the batter hits up the middle and to stay alert. I appreciated their head's up, but I still had 4 shots at me, one hitting my arm and another hitting my leg.

My example is only mentioned because I come to have some fun and not be taken away for an injury.

PLEASE GIVE THIS INFORMATION TO YOUR TEAM. IT IS THE PLAYER'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SHOW YOY THAT THE BAT IS APPROVED.

Manny and Larry will be calling you tonight to further discuss this situation, as I don't want anymore e-mails sent by anyone PLEASE.

Thanks for your help. This is important to all of us.
