2013 SEASON ANNOUNCEMENTS...

--TRYOUT WEEKS--------April 21 and April 28- both at 9 AM at Fairmount 1.  No tryouts at Solon.

                      Please notify any potential prospects.  Any player returning to

                      the league (from prior to last season) must also tryout.  (Only 1 week is necessary to tryout)

 

--PRACTICE WEEK-------May 5

 

--START OF REGULAR GAMES---MAY 12

 

--DUES INCREASE TO:   $135  (As discussed--to cover many increased costs--and basically

                             an increase of about $1.00 per week per person).  Must be paid

                             by June 2 or player declared inelible.  If he plays after said

                             date---without having paid---team forfeits 

 

--TWO MANAGERS PER TEAM AT ALL MANAGER MEETINGS AND DRAFT

 

--RECRUITING ADS WILL BE MINIMIZED DUE TO LARGE INFLUX OF REFERRALS

 

--WEBSITE ENHANCEMENT---ADS!!---------One can advertise on our website for an expected cost

                                      of $200 per yr. provided this sponsor signs a prepared

                                      "release" acknowledging such cost may NOT be used as

                                      a tax deduction.  The real benefit should lie in the

                                      fact that his respective ad will create a desired

                                      exposure.  The ads will "rotate" as to various locations

                                      on the website.

 

--APPROVED BATS--------------A list will be provided to each team of acceptable bats.  If a

                             player uses an illegal bat, he will be deemed automatically out

                             and given a warning-if used again, he will be ejected from the

                             game and subject to eviction rules.

 

--SOLON FIELD (#5)-----------As last season, each team will play one double-header each half

                             Inasmuch as many Sunday events take place in Solon, certain weeks

                             will not be available to us.  Please check the "schedules" when

                             they are release before te start of the season.

 

--UMPIRE EJECTION RULE-------Umpire's decision alone

 

                             Player out for remainder of game + 1 game suspension (next game)

 

                             Player's subsequent plate appearances (ejected game only)----

                             automatic outs.

 

                             "Next" game suspensions do NOT apply to post-season games

                              (i.e. Round Robin / Championship games)

 

 

--ALL-STAR GAME---------------As last year---3 players from each team + 1 alternative

 

                              Teams 1-3-5-7 vs. Teams 2-4-6-8

 

                              Manager Selection--By highest overall W-L record overall--

                              (Other managers -- respective coaches)

 

                              Pitchers----Selected by ALL team managers on respective teams

 

 

--POSSIBLE "OLD TIMERS GAME" (4 INNINGS)----Prior to All-Star Game

 

--BATTING STATS-------------Regular Season Only--No Post-Season games 

 

--MINIMUM BATTING REQUIREMENTS-----35 plate appearances (inc. walks and sac flies)to

                                   qualify for next season's draft.

 

                                   50 plate appearances to qualify for batting title.

 

--REPLACEMENT PLAYER DUES------Will be pro-rated by games played----

 

--DRAFT PROCEDURE RULES:

 

     -"Slot selection" will be done at 2nd Tryout (as last season)

 

     -All "pre-sets" will be made by commissioners prior to draft

 

     -Each commissioner will advise 2 teams of "their sets" a day or 2 before draft by

      a brief call.  (Larry A. will not have Todd-Freddy team--nor will Jimmy H. have

      Snyder-Lappin's team).  There will be very minimal discussion during this call

      and nothing will be said about "other" teams or draft positions.

 

      -There will be no consideration to players who say they will miss "X" weeks

       (whether "set" players or not)  These players must be set based on our evaluation

       of their talent or drafted as such.

 

      -"Pairings" of not-set "joined" players will be set prior to draft by commissioners--

        BUT---open for manager discussion--PRIOR to announcement of "set" players.

 

      -We WILL allow cousins to play together if they so desire--and there are no 

       extenuating circumstances.

 

      

--REPLACEMENT PLAYER REVIEW------

 

      -A Replacement Player will be allowed if the "down player" is out for a

       MANDATORY 4 weeks.

 

      -If a Number 1 or 2 draftee goes down, the respective managers may replace him

       with anyone of their choice without commissioner approval.  When injured player

       returns, replacement player is done.  (see applicable "dues" issue).

 

      -If a 3,4,5 draftee goes down before end of week 2 of 2nd half, he may be replaced by 

       approval of at least 2 commissioners.   If that player does not receive such approval

       the team will forfeit any game in which that unapproved player participates.

 

 

--HALL OF FAME INDUCTIONS:

 

     -"Current" and active players will become eligible this year providing that they

      have achieved the requirements related to such consideration.  Remember----a player

      achieving the required criteria DOES NOT MANDATE induction.  It merely allows 

      consideration for that honor.    The good news---there is always next year!!  We are 

      attempting to keep future classes small as a barrage of inductees at one time minimizes

      the "honor" and "exclusivity" of the award.
